  20. My question is this, when we tape SVHS on a VHS tape, the video DOES get 
  21. recorded in SVHS! That is, when I play it on a VHS VCR it does not play 
  22. properly, and when I play it in our JVC deck, the tape shows up as being a 
  23. SVHS!

  26. You CAN record SVHS onto VHS tape.  There's a hole in the SVHS tape case that
  27. tells the camera it's got an SVHS tape.  Your camera is probably stuck
  28. (faulty internal switch?) in SVHS mode.  The problem is (In theory) that SVHS
  29. tape is supposed to have a higher resolution oxide than VHS, and so should
  30. give you a better picture than VHS tape.  In reality?  Who knows?  This stuff
  31. is all made in the same factory, so how could you tell without extensive
  32. testing.  This works for 8mm and Hi8 also, BTW.  I've read reports that you
  33. get a better picture with some 8mm tape in Hi8 mode than you do with Hi8
  34. tape!
